Which one we would buy

The Saatva Classic takes it for most buyers, on the strength of the trial period, the included white-glove delivery, and a marginally better balance of pressure relief against support. Its coil-on-coil core is the reason it scores 9.6 where the WinkBeds scores 9.4, and it is the one we recommend first for back pain.

The WinkBeds is the better mattress in two specific situations. Above about 250 lb it holds its shape better — 1.1 inches of hip sink against 1.3 — and its edge support is the best we have measured, which matters if you sit on the perimeter to dress. It is also $200 cheaper for a Queen.

Neither is a good choice for a couple where one person wakes easily. Both are coil-heavy and both carry motion across the bed; the Saatva scores 7.9 and the WinkBeds 7.6, which is the difference between bad and slightly worse.

Frequently asked questions

Is Saatva or WinkBeds better for back pain?
Saatva, narrowly. All three of our testers held spinal alignment within two degrees of neutral on the Classic against 2.5 degrees on the WinkBeds, and the Classic scored 9.6 on support to the WinkBeds’ 9.4. Both are among the three best mattresses we have measured for back pain.
Is the Saatva Classic worth $200 more than the WinkBeds?
If you value the included white-glove delivery and old-mattress removal, the Saatva is effectively cheaper — that service is worth about $200 on its own. If you are happy to unbox a mattress yourself, the WinkBeds is the better value.
